Research Center of Environmental and Health Sciences of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) was established in 2016. Built upon Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, CAMS, the center also integrated superior resources of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, School of Public Health and Institute of Medical Information/Medical Library, CAMS. Using multi-disciplinary perspectives and methods (basic medical sciences, clinical medical sciences, environmental medical sciences and public health policy research), the center focuses on building basic research data platform of natural / social / special environment and health and establishing sharing mechanisms of environmental and health data and resources suitable for China's national conditions.
Research directions
1. Natural environment and health. To analyze relationships between health and the pollution of atmosphere, water and soil, establishing a evaluation system for prevention and controling effects of environmental pollution.
2. Social environment and health. To integrate the data from nationwide health policies, and quantitatively estimating the impacts of policy-related social environment factors on health.
3. Special environment and health. To study adaptive physiological and psychological changes of human and underlying mechanisms under extreme environment.
4. Resource sharing mechanisms. To build basic research data platform of natural/ social/ special environment and health, and establishing sharing mechanisms of environmental and health data and resources suitable for China's national conditions.

The center is composed of 27 members with Professor Chengyu Jiang as director, Professor Xuezhong Yu and Yuanli Liu as deputy directors, 1 academician, 21 professors, 3 associate professors and 2 assistant professors. The academic committee is consisted of 1 director (Professor Zhu Tong) and 10 other members.
