Cell Resource Center (CRC) National BioMedical Cell-line Resource (BMCR) is co-sponsored by Ministry of Sciences & Technology, Ministry of Public Health, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Institute of Basic Medical Sciences. It is the constitutional part of National Science & Technology Infrastructure (NSTI). Major duties of CRC include cell deposition, cell banking, quality control, related information collection and web-display, establishing new cell research models, providing cell lines and related support for research community and cell culture related technical services and training. The director of CRC is Professor Yuqin Liu. She is also the director of National Biomedical Cell-line Resource (NSTIBMCR).

CRC/BMCR is the leader of “Standardization, Integration and sharing of cell line resource in China”. It provides various services around the country, including cell lines distribution, cell quality analysis and related technical support to all kinds of national science fields and technological projects. Currently CRC/BMCR enjoys more than 3400 cell lines for distribution. Each cell line comes from a reliable source with a clear history. Every one of them is tested for mycoplasma contamination, species and STR analysis for cell lines of human and mice origin.

During 2022, CRC/BMCR kept on building up our inventory. At the same time, more than 3390 cells were provided to 1600+ labs as the starting material of their projects. Our PUMC-HUVEC-T1 has been used by more than 500 labs up to now. Besides, our cas9-stable-expressing tumor cells also attract more attention. Also, we started a new project (2021-I2M-1-053), aiming to establish various cellular research models of different diseases with Chinese background including cancers, iPS cell models of rare diseases and genetic diseases etc. More than 230 cell lines established are under-evaluation for application.

Services provided by CRC/BMCR include cell repository, cell lines(research material), cell culture scale-up, media, mycoplasma test, PCR species identification, STR analysis and so on. CRC also provides training courses that comprise comprehensive instruction in all fundamental skills of cell culture, together with lectures and workshops on more specialized areas of current significance from guest experts in these areas.
