In 2010, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Chinese Arctic and Antarctic Administration jointly established "United Laboratory of Polar Medical Sciences", which is the only polar medical science research platform in China. The establishment of this united laboratory further guaranteed and promoted the development of polar medicine, and also advanced a number of achievements. In 2018, we led the establishment of the only national standard for polar medicine in China, which is "The requirements of pre-departure physical examination for polar expeditioners". From 2007 to 2023, we constructed a set of non-invasive physiological and psychological screening systems in order to identify pre-selected expeditioners who are sensitive to hypoxia at plateau. Additionally, we published original research in Molecular Psychiatry, which is of remarkable significance in the field of Antarctic medicine since 1962.
