Histopathology core facility provides histological and pathological analysis services for basic and clinical research, teaching, R&D of diagnostics and therapeutics. The facility provides services for both internal and external research institutes and hospitals, including technical assistance in histopathological experiment designs, a full range of histology and pathology techniques, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization and related analyses for scientists and students.
The facility is capable of processing tissues in frozen and paraffin formats. In addition to the standard Haematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining, we are also able to perform many types of special tissue staining, such as Masson‘s Trichrome. Sectioning of tissue blocks in any of the above formats can be performed by facility staff or researchers using two cryomicrotomes and three specialized paraffin microtomes with staff supervision.
For immunohistochemistry analysis, antibodies can be optimized for automated immunohistochemistry to ensure reproducibility and high throughput. Deparaffinization and antigen retrieval are fully automated, although manual methods can still be performed. Staff can provide in situ PCR and in situ hybridization detection, histopathological observation and analysis, microscope digital capture and fluorescence micrograph services.
Our core facility has laboratories for routine pathology, special techniques, image capture and analysis. Principle equipment includes: Paraffin microtomes and cryomicrotomes, automatic embedding machine, automatic dehydration and staining instrument, automated immunohistochemistry analyzer, in situ PCR instrument, multi-fluorescence microscopes and CCDs. Also, we have recently initiated Laser Capture Microdisection service.
