Bioinformatics Center for is a platform of Institute of Basic Medical Sciences(IBMS), Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, which provides bioinformatics data analysis and high-performance computing (HPC) services.
Main mission:
The HPC cluster in the Center consists of 928 cores and 32 nodes, with 2TB of memory and 1.4PB of storage, providing a stable computing platform for in-depth bioinformatics and computational biology research within the institute. In 2020, the center formulated “The charging management of high-performance computing platform”, which formally provides high performance computing services for each research group in IBMS. Up to now, there are about 40 users from 20 groups submitted in the system with their works including data analysis for single-cell transcriptome, epigenetics, genomics, medical images, etc., as well as training and validation of machine learning (including deep learning) models.
Our staff members have experience in data analysis, algorithm development and database construction, and we continue to provide bioinformatics-related data analysis services as well as consultation on research methods and software usage to research groups of IBMS. The Center also undertakes parts of the bioinformatics teaching courses for students in the Institute. Up to now, the Center developed several softwares independently, including SCSA (a cell type annotation tool for single-cell RNA-seq data), MethyScan(a tool for methylation specific PCR primer design and evaluation), MutPrimerDesign(a tool for designing primers for human gene mutations located in coding sequence region), which are published on Frontier in Genetics, Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics, and Chinese Journal of Bioinformatics. All the softwares could be downloaded freely from https://github.com/bioinfo-ibms-pumc/.In addition, The Center also work in close collaboration with other research groups and hospitals. Among them, the project of billary tract carcinoma mutational spectrum in collaboration with Peking Union Medical College Hospital has been published on Theranostics.
Our goal is to build a first-class high performance computing cluster, providing high quality technical services and supporting various research groups based on the platform.
