Technology field and major achievements:

The major and research field of Dr. Yang Liu are immunology. Yang focuses on the epigenetic and metabolic regulation of innate immunity as well as tumor immunology. In recent years, she has published a series of papers as first author or co-corresponding author in peer-reviewed journals, including Science, Cancer Cell, and Signal Transduct Target Ther. Besides, she obtained 3 issued China Invention Patents as first inventor. Her studies add new mechanistic insight into the host-virus interaction via RNA modification and metabolic regulation of innate immunity, providing new potential targets for the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. In addition, she proposed a new concept of the six characteristics of the pre-metastatic niche.

Yang presides over several research funds as PI and received a number of awards. For instance, she was selected as the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 Asia Pacific. Besides, Yang was invited to participate in the 68th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting dedicated to Physiology or Medicine, and also was invited to give oral presentation in high-level conferences such as Global Young Tech Leaders’ Summit.
